Even if Italians do not have an extensive breakfast they love marmellades, jellies and honey - as topping for a simple biscottata (rusk), with fresh bread and very often as a condiment for cheese - fresh cheese but also strong matured pecorino and caciotta (sheep and cow milk cheese).
